Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary:

Directs the operations and financial areas of the company to assure policies and practices support sales initiatives. Review initiatives to assure the company will reach its financial goals. As an officer of the corporation this position is responsible for the company's relationship with lending institutions, board of directors, shareholders and investors. The following duties are performed either personally or through subordinate managers:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounting/Financial - Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, general ledger, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization. Establish and maintain banking and financial institution relationships.

Responsible for Monthly Statement of Financial Position to Board of Directors. Assures compliance with all applicable regulations governing financial reporting and banking covenants.

Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports, including margin review, factory and labor utilization and cost analyses.

Analyzes operational issues impacting functional groups and the entire institution, and determines their financial impact. Suggests and implements timely process improvement.

Reviews documents pertaining to royalties, leases, and other legal obligations of the company.

Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic reports on financial stability, liquidity and growth.

Production - Measures and reviews production efficiencies, quality, capacity and output. Works closely with VP of Operations in developing measurement metrics to reach production goals.

Client Services - Oversight of quality assurance, customer service and custom art creation and delivery. Constant communication of policies, procedures and protocol review and improvements.

Technology – Implement, improve and maintain company operating and information technology systems. Analyze needs, priorities and performance vs. budget throughout company. Actively work with programmers, project managers to assess system hardware, software and management needs and improvements, including back up systems.

Purchasing /Sourcing - Oversight of department to review inventory needs and sales projections by sku; pricing of new products and quotes for custom products; review costs and alternatives; manage senior level vendor relationships.

Human Resources - Oversee policies, benefits, personnel performance, union relations, including personnel evaluation, development and succession.

International Sales, Private Label Sales Oversight and Coordination - Assure orders are being processed properly and at appropriate margins. Maintain connections with sales representatives and manage product development, product sales assessment, contract management and pricing logistics of international and private label production.


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting from four-year college or university. CPA preferred. Thorough knowledge of cost accounting and GAAP.
Ten years experience in a manufacturing environment at a senior management level.
Experience in a union-manufacturing environment.

Computer Skills:

Must have knowledge of Accounting software, Database software, Outlook Internet software, Manufacturing software (Microsoft Exapta preferred), Order processing systems; Proficiency in Excel and Word software


Other Skills and Abilities:

Relate well with employees at all levels. Must be highly organized, with good group, individual communication and presentation skills; ability to coordinate activities of several departments and managers. Able to affect change where required. Establish and meet deadlines.

Interface with all departments for goal setting, performance and process improvement.

Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals.

Other Qualifications:

Must be able to travel. Experience in multi-state operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages seven subordinate supervisors who supervise 200+ employees in the Accounting, Human Resources, IT, Customer Service, Art, Sourcing and Private Label Sales. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
